Shannon Bird is the Colorado State Representative for House District 29, covering parts of Adams County and Jefferson County, including Westminster. Her public service began as a classroom volunteer, leading to her role as the citizen chair for a school district bond campaign and co-founding the Adams 12 Community Action Network. Elected to the State House in 2018 after serving on the Westminster City Council, Shannon focuses on affordability in her legislative work, informed by her background as the first in her family to graduate college. In the 2024 session, she served as Vice Chair of the Appropriations Committee and Chair of the Joint Budget Committee, overseeing legislation on state revenue and tax policy. Shannon resides in Westminster with her husband, two children, and rescue cats, and enjoys exploring Colorado's parks and farms in her free time.
