Colorado Labor Market Update – June 2026

Colorado experienced moderate employment growth over the last month. After losing 400 nonfarm jobs in May, the state added 4,800 in June: the private sector dominated that growth, of which governments generated just 100. Substantial losses in the information and trade/transportation/utilities sectors, which lost 1,700 jobs each, were overcome by the addition of 4,000 net new jobs in the leisure/hospitality sector and modest increases elsewhere.

Key Findings

• Over the past year, Colorado has experienced relatively high job growth. The state ranks 8th among states in nonfarm employment growth over this time.
• Colorado’s total employment grew by 4,800 in June, 4,700 of which were private-sector jobs.
• Local governments added 100 jobs while the federal and state governments added none.
  • Despite employment growth, Colorado’s LFPR dropped for the fifth consecutive month. It fell by 0.3 percentage points in June for a total of 1.6 ppt over the last year.
• The state has added 28,600 net new jobs over the last year, but this finding includes the 24,200 jobs lost in June 2025—the highest one-month decline since April 2020.
